I’m Not Waving, I’m Drowning
A four-part visual journey directed for Drum Fu, inspired by the restless energy of "Good Time" and the producer’s shift into dance music amid personal turmoil. The story follows a small-time troublemaker as he spirals through moments of chaos, escape, violence, and resignation.

Chapter 1 – Call U

The opening scene places our protagonist outside a courthouse—free, but not at peace. A heated argument over the phone hints at unfinished business, burning bridges, and the weight of choices catching up. The tension builds in his body language, the pacing, the restless energy. His past isn’t behind him, it’s just outside the frame, waiting.

Chapter 2 – P0SH

Panic sets in. He’s running, but from what? Or who? The city blurs as adrenaline takes over, his every move captured by surveillance, an omnipresent eye that sees but doesn’t save. The looped shots of pursuit mirror the inescapable nature of his reality—no matter how fast he moves, the consequences are always one step behind.

Chapter 3 – Touch

When escape fails, confrontation follows. Familiar faces turn to threats, and survival shifts from running to enduring. The blows land harder when they come from someone you once trusted. Under dim streetlights and the weight of betrayal, he’s forced to face the violence that was always lurking beneath the surface.

Chapter 4 – The Reckoning

Bruised and broken, he stands still. There’s no more running, no more fighting—just the quiet realization of defeat. He stares into the void, lost in thought, or maybe just lost. Is this rock bottom, or was he always sinking? The dance between action and consequence comes to a close, leaving him with nothing but the echoes of his own choices.

“Empty Pleasures”

A haunting exploration of fleeting connections and the hollowness they leave behind. In a world where external validation is mistaken for fulfillment, a man searches for meaning through transient pleasures, only to confront the void within himself.

Through static, meditative shots, the film captures the contrast between momentary joy and lingering solitude, as the protagonist’s journey unfolds with quiet intensity. With each fleeting interaction, the facade of happiness fades, leaving him alone to face the weight of his choices.

“Empty Pleasures” is a poignant reflection on the pursuit of external gratification and the inevitable reckoning with one’s inner world.

The Last Shot.

On an empty court, a lone figure steps into frame, seeking solace in the familiar rhythm of the game. The sound of the ball bouncing fills the stillness, each shot a fleeting attempt to connect with something deeper. With every miss, every rebound, the weight of reflection grows heavier.

In the final moment, the ball is left behind at the center of the court—a quiet surrender, a symbolic gesture. As the figure walks away, the court returns to its silent state, the echoes of the last shot lingering in the air, a reminder of effort, loss, and letting go.

Echoes in the Trees.

In a quiet journey through the forest, past memories come alive. The rustle of leaves and the whisper of the wind carry echoes of days gone by, as one soul returns to a place of reflection. Here, nature and nostalgia intertwine, telling a story of solitude, remembrance, and the unspoken connection between our past and the present.

Where the heart feels most at ease, that’s where you’ll find home.
